We collect information you provide directly:

• Profile information (name, age, gender, photos, bio)
• Location data (country, region, city)
• Usage data (who you like, message, and view)
• Device information (push notification token)
• Authentication data (email or Google account)

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used to:

• Show your profile to compatible members
• Send notifications (messages, likes, matches)
• Improve matching algorithms
• Enforce our Terms of Service and safety policies
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Your profile is visible to other authenticated Africana users according to your privacy settings. We may share data with:

• Supabase (database & authentication infrastructure)
• Expo (push notification delivery)
• Law enforcement when legally required

4. Your Controls

You can:

• Hide your profile from discovery (Settings → Profile Visible)
• Hide your online status (Settings → Show Online Status)
• Disable messages (Settings → Receive Messages)
• Block any user from their profile
• Delete your account and all data permanently (Settings → Delete Account)

5. Data Retention

If you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, photos, messages, and all associated data within 30 days. Some anonymized analytics may be retained.

6. Security

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Authentication is handled by Supabase, which is SOC 2 compliant. However, no system is 100% secure.

7. Children

Africana is strictly for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
